Residential Children Worker – GateKeepers Lodge

About the role

We are seeking a Residential Children Worker to join the team at GateKeepers Lodge, part of Derbyshire’s network of children’s homes. You will provide 24‑hour, person‑centred care to children and young people, working within a therapeutic, trauma‑informed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver holistic care addressing physical, emotional and social development of children.
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of children in line with the Children Act and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
• Collaborate with partner services and families to arrange additional support.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to the therapeutic ethos of the home.
• Work shift patterns including early, late and sleep‑in duties to provide 24‑hour coverage.

Required profile

• Commitment to relationship‑focused, psychologically informed practice.
• Ability to work autonomously and use initiative.
• Willingness to obtain or hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) within two years of start date.

Required skills

• Understanding of the Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
