Residential Children's Home Deputy Manager

About the role

This position offers the chance to join a growing care provider delivering residential support for children and young adults with learning difficulties and challenging behaviour. Based in Wallasey, you will work a rotating shift pattern, providing hands‑on care and leadership within a newly opened home.

Key responsibilities

• Support children aged 6‑16 with daily routines including breakfast, dressing, school attendance, washing, meals and bedtime.
• Create and manage staff rotas, lead the support team and ensure care plans are followed.
• Assist the Home Manager in running the home and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.
• Complete required paperwork and administrative duties, averaging 16 hours per month.

Required profile

• Resident of Wallasey or surrounding area with a full UK driving licence; own vehicle preferred.
• NVQ Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (essential); Level 5 qualification or enrolment is a strong advantage.
• Proven experience working within a residential child‑care setting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to develop and follow care plans.
• Competence in organising staff schedules and supervising a care team.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £16.25 (Level 3) or £17.78 (Level 5) plus £60 sleep‑in allowance.
• Additional 16 paid hours per month for paperwork and 224 holiday hours per year (extra days after two years).
• Bank holidays paid at 1.5× rate, private healthcare, mileage reimbursement (40p per mile), and a supportive training network.
