About the role
We are seeking a compassionate Residential Children’s Worker to join the small, experienced team at Glenholme Children’s Home in Long Eaton. You will provide day‑to‑day support, guidance and care for children with complex emotional and behavioural needs, helping them thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver relationship‑focused, trauma‑informed care in line with the PACE framework.
- Support children with daily routines such as school preparation, personal organisation and participation in hobbies and community activities.
- Teach essential life skills including cooking, budgeting, self‑care and building healthy relationships.
- Maintain consistent boundaries, promote wellbeing and ensure the safety of each child.
- Work collaboratively with the residential team, adhering to Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
Required profile
- Openness to relationship‑focused, psychologically informed practice.
- Ability to use initiative while following legislative and policy requirements.
- Willingness to hold or obtain a Level 3 Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma (or equivalent NVQ 3) within two years of start.
- Experience or training in trauma‑informed practice, social pedagogy or restorative approaches is desirable.
Required skills
- Knowledge of the Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Understanding of PACE, trauma‑informed practice and social pedagogy.
