Residential Children’s Worker – Shift Based (Robins Nest)

About the role

We are seeking a Residential Children’s Worker to join our team at the Robins Nest children’s home in Derbyshire. You will provide 24‑hour, shift‑based care for young people, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and personal development in a therapeutic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver holistic care and meet the safety needs of children living in the home.
• Work as part of a small staff team to provide person‑centred support.
• Collaborate with partner services and families to arrange additional interventions.
• Embed the therapeutic ethos of Derbyshire Residential Services, promoting physical, emotional and social development.
• Work flexible shifts, including early, late and sleep‑in duties, to maintain 24‑hour coverage.

Required profile

• Openness to relationship‑focused, psychologically informed practice.
• Understanding of the Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
• Hold, be working towards, or willing to obtain within two years a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or an equivalent L3 qualification).
• Ability to use initiative and work independently when required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and social pedagogy.
• Experience in residential childcare or similar settings.

• Grade 9 hourly rates ranging from £16.77‑£17.79 (7 am‑7 pm), £22.36‑£23.72 (after 7 pm), and £33.54‑£35.58 on bank holidays.
