Residential Deputy Children's Home Manager

About the role

This full‑time permanent position supports the Home Manager in delivering a safe, stimulating residential environment for young people in Wallasey. The role offers a clear progression route toward a Registered Manager position and includes structured training to achieve an NVQ/Diploma Level 5.

Key responsibilities

• Deputise for the Home Manager, overseeing day‑to‑day operations in their absence.
• Lead, mentor and support staff, conduct professional supervisions and manage shift rotas.
• Organise induction training, team‑building activities and foster a supportive workplace culture.
• Build therapeutic relationships with residents and their families, advocating for their best interests.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare for statutory and PEP reviews.
• Ensure compliance with the Social Care Common Inspection Framework, Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
• Participate in a flexible shift pattern, including on‑call duties and up to 16 hours of business‑critical overtime per month.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a residential children’s home, with at least 1 year in a leadership role (Team Leader, Senior Support Worker or Deputy Manager).
• Completed NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People; working towards or holding Level 5 is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of statutory regulations, record‑keeping and safeguarding practices.
