Residential Support Worker – Brent, London

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our Children and Young People's Services team in Brent, London. You will help create a safe, nurturing environment where young people can thrive, receive personal care, and develop independence.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements and organisational policies.
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of the young people in your care.
• Work a rota that includes evenings, weekends, and occasional sleep‑ins or waking nights.
• Maintain a well‑ordered environment that respects cultural, racial, and religious differences.
• Support young people in developing independent living skills and participate in recreational activities.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver a range of activities and support.
• Communicate professionally with staff, families, social workers, educators, and other professionals.
• Handle administrative duties such as record‑keeping and reporting.
• Assist in developing and implementing behaviour‑management strategies.
• Support the healthcare and educational needs of the young people.

Required profile

• Knowledge of the Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015 and the Children Act 1989.
• Experience working in residential children’s homes, preferably in an Ofsted‑registered setting.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing a varied workload.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• NVQ Level 3 in Child Care or a commitment to obtain it.
• Empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
