Residential Support Worker – Children’s Home

About the role
Prospero Health & Social Care is looking for a compassionate Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in Newhaven, East Sussex. You will help young people feel safe, respected and supported while they develop confidence and independence.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day care, supporting routines, education, appointments and community activities.
- Promote emotional wellbeing and encourage independence through positive role‑modelling.
- Maintain accurate records, handovers and contribute to team reflections.
- Implement individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly.
Required profile
- Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults (paid or voluntary).
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep‑ins.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Desire to obtain or already hold a Level 3 qualification in Children’s Residential Care.
Required skills
- Level 3 Children’s Residential Care qualification (or commitment to achieve it).
- Understanding of trauma‑informed care, SEMH needs or challenging behaviour support.
What we offer
- Starting salary of £28,000 – £29,000 per year.
