Residential Support Worker – Children’s Homes

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Residential Support Worker to join our team in Cumbria’s residential children’s homes. You will work directly with children who have experienced trauma and provide day‑to‑day care, emotional support and behaviour management across a range of shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Support children with trauma, emotional and behavioural needs in a safe, nurturing environment.
• Deliver personal care, supervise daily activities and promote independence.
• Implement and follow individual care plans and risk assessments.
• Provide night‑time supervision on waking‑night and sleep‑in shifts.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in residential children’s homes supporting trauma‑affected young people.
• Flexibility to work day, waking‑night and sleep‑in shifts.
• Right to work in the UK with no student‑visa restrictions.
• Willingness to travel up to 1 hour between homes; a driver’s licence is highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of trauma‑informed care approaches.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviours safely.
• Effective communication and teamwork within a multidisciplinary setting.

• Competitive rates: £15.35 per hour for day shifts, £16.88 per hour for waking‑night shifts, and a £63.04 flat rate for sleep‑in placements.
