Residential Support Worker

About the role

Randstad Care is seeking experienced Residential Support Workers to join specialist 0‑18 services in North Somerset. You will work in both regulated children’s homes and unregulated crisis placements, providing a stable, therapeutic environment for vulnerable children and young people.

Key responsibilities

• Use verbal de‑escalation and positive behaviour support to manage aggression and heightened emotions.
• Act as a safeguarding presence, identifying risk triggers and following local authority and Ofsted protocols.
• Build trusting relationships, encouraging participation in education, social activities and daily life skills.
• Provide 1:1 or 2:1 supervision in crisis or solo‑placement settings.
• Produce accurate daily logs and incident reports for social workers and multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months professional experience with children and young people in residential, outreach or supported‑living settings.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and understanding trauma impact.
• Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable but not essential.
