Retailer Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Retailer Accountant to join a leading automotive group in North Tyneside. The role involves overseeing financial operations across one or more dealership sites, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and balance‑sheet reconciliations within agreed deadlines.
• Monitor departmental performance and provide variance analysis and commentary to management.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturer and group reporting requirements.
• Manage vehicle funding, stocking plan reconciliations, and manufacturer bonus accruals.
• Oversee VAT returns, statutory submissions, payroll information, and month‑end bank reconciliations.
• Liaise with external auditors and maintain internal controls.
• Supervise the accounts and vehicle administration teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a retailer accountant in the automotive industry.
• Strong understanding of automotive dealership finance.
• ACA, CIMA, or ACCA qualification (or working towards).
• Organised, accurate and able to work under pressure.
• High level of confidentiality and discretion.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Experience using the Keyloop Autoline system.
