Retirement Housing Facilities Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a Retirement Housing Facilities Assistant to support the day‑to‑day operation of a retirement community in Selsey. The role involves maintaining the safety, security and condition of communal areas while providing a high level of service to residents and contractors.

Key responsibilities

• Hold the building keys and ensure security of communal areas.
• Act as the first point of contact for residents, contractors and visitors, managing access to the property.
• Coordinate contractors and utility companies for repairs, planned maintenance and servicing of plant equipment.
• Oversee laundry facilities, communal spaces and cleaning staff to maintain a welcoming environment.
• Monitor and resolve complaints related to communal areas and facilities.
• Assist tenants with rent account queries and arrears.
• Conduct regular inspections, raise repairs and facilitate contractor access.
• Perform water testing, emergency lighting and fire‑fighting equipment tests in line with health‑and‑safety procedures.
• Implement fire‑risk assessment actions and manage gritting plans as required.
• Record health‑and‑safety inspections, accidents, incidents and near‑misses.

Required profile

• Previous experience in facilities or property management.
• Strong customer‑service orientation.
• Experience working with older residents or the general public.
• Self‑motivated, able to prioritise workload and adapt to resident needs.
• Good knowledge of housing/building management and health‑and‑safety issues.

Required skills

• Health and safety compliance.
