Revenue Controller

About the role

The Revenue Controller will safeguard the firm’s cash flow by minimizing working capital tied up in work‑in‑progress, unpaid invoices and disbursements. You will work closely with partners, fee‑earners and their clients to ensure timely billing and collection while reducing exposure to doubtful debts.

Key responsibilities

• Meet regularly with a portfolio of partners to review unbilled WIP, disbursements and outstanding invoices.
• Chase unpaid bills, resolve client queries and enforce payment promises.
• Collaborate with the Revenue Supervisor to monitor client exposure and take corrective action.
• Maintain detailed records of all communications in Aderant Expert collections.
• Provide partners with regular feedback on revenue‑control activities.
• Support month‑end processes, including invoice processing, client balance transfers and compliance checks.
• Assist with financial administration of matter files, including special rates, revaluation of time, WIP transfers and write‑off requests.
• Reconcile accounts, prepare statements of account and, when required, facilitate legal proceedings for debt recovery.
• Contribute to system projects such as central invoice dispatch, monthly statements and paperless billing.
• Offer flexible support to the wider Finance team, especially during month‑end close.

Required profile

• Proven success in a revenue‑control or finance role, preferably within the legal or professional services sector.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with partners and fee‑earners.
• Track record of reducing cash‑flow risk and improving collection efficiency.
