Risk Assessor (Legionella)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Risk Assessor to join HSL Compliance’s specialist team. Based in the North East of England, you will work on‑site across schools, housing estates, leisure centres and other facilities, ensuring compliance with water safety regulations and protecting people from Legionella risks.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out Legionella risk assessments in line with HSE guidance (ACoP L8 & HSG274).
• Produce clear, accurate reports, technical documentation and system schematics for hot and cold water systems.
• Support sampling, monitoring and other water‑treatment activities.
• Audit client records and logbooks to verify regulatory compliance.
• Maintain strong client relationships and represent HSL professionally.
• Travel within Sunderland, Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham and occasionally elsewhere in the UK.

Required profile

• Technically skilled with strong attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, able to manage own workload.
• Client‑focused with excellent communication.
• Flexible and willing to travel as required.
• Safety‑first mindset with solid health & safety understanding.
• Willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Legionella risk assessment and HSE guidance (ACoP L8, HSG274).
• Ability to produce technical reports and water‑system schematics.
• Experience with sampling and water‑treatment monitoring.
