Risk & Compliance Officer – Hybrid (Bromley)

About the role

We are seeking a Risk & Compliance Officer to join a well‑established law firm in Bromley. Working closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will help maintain the firm’s regulatory framework and ensure adherence to SRA, AML, GDPR and other legal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to compliance queries on AML, source of funds, GDPR and client onboarding.
• Conduct audits of AML, source of funds and source of wealth files.
• Draft, review and maintain risk and compliance policies and procedures.
• Support Lexcel, CQS and other regulatory accreditations and audits.
• Carry out AML and conflict checks as required.
• Assist with professional indemnity claims, complaints and related reporting.
• Maintain key compliance registers (claims, complaints, GDPR, conflicts).
• Deliver risk and compliance training for new joiners.
• Support regulatory reporting, practising certificate renewals and firm‑wide compliance projects.
• Monitor regulatory developments and contribute to continuous improvement of compliance processes.

Required profile

• Previous risk and compliance experience within a law firm.
• Good understanding of SRA regulations, AML requirements and legal compliance.
• Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
• Confidence to communicate effectively with colleagues and senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using case management or compliance systems.
