Risk & Control Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Risk & Control Manager to join Pleo’s Risk & Control team in London. Operating as part of the Second Line of Defence, you will help shape and strengthen the risk management framework that underpins our product, regulatory relationships and overall business strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve Pleo’s 2LOD risk management framework in line with regulatory expectations.
• Execute oversight of the First Line, assessing risk identification, control design and ongoing management across the business.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing guidance on risk topics, regulatory change and the control environment.
• Develop clear, data‑driven risk reports for senior management and governance committees, highlighting exposures and control gaps.
• Support regulatory engagements by preparing credible responses on risk and control matters.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of experience in a regulated financial services environment, with at least 3 years focused on risk or control management.
• Solid understanding of credit risk assessment and management.
• Hands‑on experience in both 1LOD and 2LOD risk and control activities.
• Proven ability to influence and constructively challenge stakeholders on complex risk topics.
• Strong communication skills to translate risk concepts into practical language for technical teams and senior leadership.
