Risk Events Manager (Hybrid)

About the role

The role is based in Edinburgh (with the possibility of working from Bristol) and is hybrid. As a Risk Events Manager you will lead the handling of business incidents and risk events for an FCA‑regulated firm, ensuring that governance frameworks and controls are applied and that customers are protected.

Key responsibilities

• Manage business incidents and risk events in line with established governance frameworks and controls.
• Chair and facilitate meetings with internal stakeholders, IT teams and operational colleagues to drive incident resolution.
• Track remediation actions, monitor progress and ensure timely completion of corrective activities.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis and identify improvements to processes, controls and customer outcomes.
• Produce management information, reports and updates for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
• Act as subject‑matter expert on projects, assessing operational impact and associated risks.
• Support customer rectification activities, ensuring detriment is identified and addressed.
• Escalate complex issues when required and deputise for the Incident Management Senior Team Leader.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives by analysing trends and sharing knowledge.

Required profile

• Previous experience in financial services, life & pensions, risk, governance, compliance or operational oversight.
• Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence and build effective relationships.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills, able to prioritise competing deadlines.
• Demonstrated experience of incident or risk event management, remediation and governance.
• Proven analytical ability to identify root causes and develop business solutions.
• Effective communication skills, including presenting to senior audiences.
