Risk Lawyer (London)

About the role

The firm is looking for a proactive Risk Lawyer to join its UK Risk Management Team in London. Reporting to the Head of Risk, you will provide day‑to‑day risk and compliance support across the UK practice and its international offices.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Risk and Director of Risk (COLP) in meeting all regulatory requirements for UKIME offices, especially Dubai and Ireland.
• Update engagement documentation and Terms of Business for Dubai and Ireland offices to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Deliver risk‑related training to staff in the UKIME network, including Dubai and Ireland locations.
• Conduct horizon‑scanning of regulatory developments that could affect any UKIME office.
• Assist Business Professionals Teams and Practice Area Groups with ad‑hoc risk queries.
• Review and regularly update the firm’s risk management policies, procedures and precedents for UKIME offices.
• Support the broader Risk team in daily risk and compliance matters.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the firm’s risk management framework, identifying improvement opportunities.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a risk and compliance role within a commercial international law firm.
• Working knowledge of regulatory issues affecting solicitors and lawyers across jurisdictions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence stakeholders.
• Ability to provide pragmatic, commercial solutions under pressure and to challenge where necessary while maintaining relationships.
• Proactive sharing of knowledge through meetings, training sessions or policy updates.
