Robotics Software Engineer – UAV Autonomy

About the role

Join Archangel Autonomy’s UAV Autonomous Navigation team to develop and test an innovative UAV copilot system that enhances navigation and decision‑making for a variety of drone platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate the autonomy copilot with partner autopilots and drone platforms, covering software, mechanical, and electrical integration.
• Develop new features to improve navigation, decision‑making, and support additional flight platforms.
• Support rapid prototyping and integration onto new fixed‑wing and multirotor platforms for in‑house testing.

Required profile

• Experience developing code for UAV autopilots such as Ardupilot or PX4.
• Experience with companion compute solutions using MAVLink, MAVSDK, or DJI Onboard SDK.
• Strong proficiency in Python and C++ within Linux development environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• At least three years of commercial software development experience.
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
