Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician (Training Provided)

About the role

Join Shorterm Group in partnership with Siemens Mobility as a Rolling Stock Maintenance Technician. You will receive structured training on the Class 700 fleet and develop the skills needed to maintain passenger trains in a dynamic rail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance on passenger rolling stock.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults, including braking systems, pneumatics and wheelsets.
• Carry out vehicle examinations according to Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs) and record activities in electronic maintenance systems.
• Complete job cards, service sheets and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Operate lifting equipment, powered plant and mechanical handling tools safely.
• Collaborate with the Parts Department to source components and report fault‑finding findings.

Required profile

• Experience in mechanical or vehicle maintenance (e.g., light vehicle, HGV, plant, industrial, aviation, or armed forces technical trades).
• Willingness to work 5‑day on / 5‑day off rotating 12‑hour shifts, including nights.
• Ability to work on‑site in Crawley and follow health & safety procedures.
