Roofer Improver – Entry Level Roofing Role

About the role

Join The Hyde Group’s Property Maintenance team as a Roofer Improver. This full‑time position offers hands‑on experience supporting qualified roofers on repairs, maintenance and replacements across South, South East and East London.

Key responsibilities

• Assist qualified roofers with roof repairs, maintenance and replacements.
• Strip old roofing materials, prepare surfaces and lay new materials.
• Carry materials and tools to and from work areas safely.
• Help repair leaks, damaged tiles and roof coverings.
• Clear gutters and downpipes to prevent water build‑up.
• Load and unload materials, ensuring tools are stored securely.
• Use ladders, harnesses and safety equipment correctly at all times.
• Report any hazards, accidents or damage immediately.
• Provide polite and respectful service to customers in their homes.

Required profile

• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn on the job.
• Physically fit and comfortable working at height and lifting materials.
• Basic knowledge of roofing materials, tools and safe working practices.
• Ability to follow instructions from experienced roofers and work well in a team.
• Full UK driving licence.
