About the role
Southway Housing Trust is seeking a Safeguarding and Support Coordinator to lead its safeguarding response and support case planning for tenants across Greater Manchester. The role involves providing expert guidance on safeguarding, vulnerability, hoarding and self‑neglect to ensure safe, independent tenancy.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate, triage and manage safeguarding concerns, delivering specialist advice across the organisation.
- Assess and oversee complex or high‑risk safeguarding cases, ensuring timely intervention and risk management.
- Collaborate with local authorities, health services, support agencies and community partners to achieve positive outcomes for tenants.
- Represent Southway at multi‑agency safeguarding and risk‑management meetings.
- Deliver safeguarding training and embed trauma‑informed, strengths‑based practice among staff.
- Assess and manage hoarding and self‑neglect cases, conduct home visits and develop action plans to sustain tenancies.
- Produce reports, performance data and case studies.
- Support responses to complaints, MP and Councillor enquiries, and Housing Ombudsman investigations, ensuring learning is captured.
Required profile
- Compassionate and resilient professional with experience working with adults with care and support needs, children or families in social housing, or in community safety, health or social care settings.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, vulnerability, hoarding and self‑neglect issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively with statutory and community partners.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Required skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- Experience in case management and risk assessment.
- Ability to deliver training and facilitate multi‑agency meetings.
What we offer
- Fixed‑term contract (18 months) with a salary of £42,084 per year.
- Full‑time role (35 hours per week) based in Didsbury, Manchester.
