Safer Communities Officer (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Northumberland County Council is recruiting two Safer Communities Officers on a fixed‑term contract until March 2027. The role is based at County Hall in Morpeth but will involve travelling across the county to engage with local communities.

Key responsibilities

• Proactively engage with residents, councillors, police and housing providers to address anti‑social behaviour and improve community safety.
• Carry out patrols, investigations and follow‑up actions, gathering evidence and applying council policies and legislation.
• Deliver coordinated safety interventions and provide a visible, reassuring presence in neighbourhoods.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to develop and implement community safety initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in community safety, enforcement, housing or public protection.
• Confident communication skills with the public and partner agencies, including handling challenging situations.
• Good knowledge of legislation related to anti‑social behaviour, crime or local authority enforcement.
• Full UK driving licence and flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
