Sales Assistant – Retail

About the role

Join Topps Tiles as a Sales Assistant in Ayr, helping customers bring their tile projects to life. You’ll work in a supportive, small team environment, using a consultative approach to guide shoppers through product choices.

Key responsibilities

• Build lasting relationships with trade and retail customers.
• Ask insightful questions to understand customer needs and recommend suitable products.
• Provide design inspiration using colour, style and layout ideas.
• Drive sales through expert product knowledge and confident closing.
• Maintain a tidy store environment and assist with stock handling.

Required profile

• Friendly, energetic and outgoing attitude.
• Willingness to lift and move heavy boxes.
• Ability to work 30 hours per week, including occasional weekends.
• Age 21+ (different hourly rates apply for under‑20).

Required skills

• Strong communication and listening abilities.
• Basic numeracy for handling transactions.
• Interest in home‑improvement and interior design.
