Sales Compensation Manager

About the role

Join the Sales Effectiveness team at Elsevier (relx) to lead the design, implementation, and governance of sales compensation plans across multiple business units. You will ensure compensation programs are fair, motivating, and aligned with strategic objectives while supporting business growth and employee engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with annual compensation planning cycles, including quota setting, incentive modelling, and performance analysis.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
• Provide strategic guidance to sales leaders on compensation‑related matters such as hiring, promotions, and retention.
• Manage sales compensation payments, from calculation and review to communication, including additional incentives.
• Analyze sales performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain documentation and training materials supporting compensation processes.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of compensation design and execution.

Required profile

• Proven experience in sales compensation, finance, or sales operations, preferably in a global organization.
• 3+ years of experience in sales compensation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and Power BI or similar tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
