Sales Controller – Automotive Dealership

About the role

The Sales Controller will join a successful franchised automotive dealership in Torbay, working closely with the Sales Manager to drive sales performance and ensure an outstanding customer experience. This position is ideal for an experienced sales professional looking to progress within the automotive sector.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Sales Manager in the day‑to‑day running of the sales department.
• Coach, motivate and develop the sales team to achieve and exceed targets.
• Manage the sales process from initial enquiry through to vehicle handover.
• Maximise finance, insurance and value‑added product opportunities.
• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the buying journey.
• Assist with stock management, vehicle displays and pricing.
• Ensure all sales activities comply with FCA regulations and manufacturer standards.
• Monitor team performance and provide support to improve results.
• Step in to manage the department in the Sales Manager’s absence when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Sales Controller, Business Manager or Senior Sales Executive within a franchised dealership.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and delivering excellent customer service.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Proactive, organised and target‑driven approach.
• Full UK driving licence.
