SAN Infrastructure Engineer (Manchester)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer with strong SAN and VMware expertise to join a large, multi‑site organisation in Manchester. The role focuses on delivering infrastructure projects and supporting core on‑prem systems across a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support, administer and optimise SAN / enterprise storage platforms.
• Manage VMware infrastructure including hosts, clusters, datastores and performance.
• Deliver infrastructure projects across 90+ sites (approximately 80% project work).
• Build, install and configure servers and related infrastructure from the ground up.
• Support and maintain Active Directory and core Microsoft environments.
• Assist with cloud and hybrid infrastructure initiatives as required.
• Perform firmware upgrades, patching and lifecycle management to ensure system stability and security.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Proven experience with SAN / storage platforms (key requirement).
• Strong VMware administration background.
• Solid knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft server technologies.
• Experience working across physical and virtual environments.
• Exposure to cloud or hybrid technologies is desirable.
