School Bursar – Burnley (Full‑time/Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Bursar to support the financial and administrative operations of schools in the Burnley area, working with Lancashire County Council and Reed Education.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day financial transactions, budgeting and reporting for the school.
• Maintain and update school administrative and financial systems, including SIMS.
• Process payroll, invoices, purchase orders and monitor cash flow.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding and statutory financial regulations.
• Support the school leadership team with financial planning and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong spelling and grammar.
• Previous experience in a similar school business or bursary role.
• Recent experience working in a school office environment.
• Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and external partners.
• Availability for part‑time or full‑time work and ability to travel locally.

Required skills

• Proficiency with school administrative and financial software, particularly SIMS.
