School Business Manager

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for an experienced School Business Manager to join a secondary school in Bexley. The role combines finance, operations and strategic leadership to support the school’s educational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Work with Governors, Head Teacher and senior leaders to develop and implement the school’s financial strategy.
• Manage budgets, financial planning, resource allocation and procurement in line with regulations.
• Ensure compliance with financial, safeguarding and procurement policies.
• Analyse school performance data to identify priorities for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships with the wider community.
• Contribute to policy development and promote equality of opportunity for all students.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Business Management, Finance, Accounting or School Business Management.
• Previous experience as a School Business Manager, Finance Manager or similar leadership role.
• Experience managing budgets and financial planning within an educational setting is desirable.
• Right to work in the UK and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• Two professional references covering the last two years.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, procurement and compliance.
• Experience in budgeting, financial planning and resource allocation.
• Up‑to‑date Safeguarding training (desirable).
