School Caretaker – Full‑time (Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated caretaker to join a vibrant school in Forest Gate, East London. The role involves maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff, working Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Locking up the site and setting the alarm each evening
• Conducting weekly fire alarm checks and up‑holding safety protocols
• Performing general repairs, including fixing doors, windows, sinks, and toilets
• Carrying out painting, decorating, and minor carpentry tasks
• Replacing toilet seats, installing shelves and pin boards
• Overseeing contractors and ensuring work meets standards
• Providing porterage services such as moving furniture and delivering parcels
• Maintaining cleanliness: litter picking, sweeping leaves, emptying bins, and restocking supplies
• Performing daily health and safety inspections of the school premises

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role (preferred)
• Ability to perform physical, hands‑on tasks independently
• Good organisational skills and reliability
• Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality

Required skills

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Basic handyman skills (repairs, painting, minor carpentry)
