School Caretaker (Part‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for a reliable part‑time caretaker to support a vibrant school in Ilford, East London. Working two days a week, you will help keep the premises safe, clean and functional for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Lock up the site, set the alarm and conduct weekly fire alarm checks.
• Perform general repairs, unblock sinks and toilets, and fix door or window handles.
• Carry out painting, decorating, replace toilet seats, install shelves and pin boards.
• Conduct daily health‑and‑safety inspections and oversee contractors.
• Provide porterage services – move furniture, deliver parcels, empty bins and replenish supplies.
• Maintain school grounds, sweep leaves and keep the environment tidy.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role is preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and handle a variety of handyperson duties.
• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
