School Caretaker / Premises Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker / Premises Assistant to join the facilities team of a prestigious independent school in Kensington. The role involves maintaining the school’s premises, supporting seasonal projects, and ensuring a safe, clean environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day upkeep and presentation of school premises.
• Move and set up furniture, classrooms, and equipment across the site.
• Support summer maintenance, classroom relocations, and site preparation projects.
• Carry out basic repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Conduct routine health and safety checks.
• Assist with deliveries and stock movement.
• Ensure communal areas, classrooms, and facilities remain safe, clean, and operational.
• Provide general support to the Site Manager and wider school team as required.

Required profile

• Friendly, approachable and easy to work with.
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling duties.
• Able to work across a five‑storey building, moving between floors frequently.
• Reliable, punctual and capable of working independently.
• Proactive with a positive, can‑do attitude.
• Experience in caretaking, facilities, maintenance or a similar role (preferred but not essential).
