School Catering Manager – Blackburn (Start Sep 2026)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated School Catering Manager to lead the safe and efficient operation of our school kitchen in Blackburn. Starting in September 2026, you will be responsible for delivering nutritious meals to pupils and staff while promoting healthy eating habits.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook high‑quality meals that meet government nutrition standards.
• Develop and update varied menus in collaboration with pupils and the School Business Manager.
• Manage kitchen staff, overseeing welfare, performance and professional development.
• Negotiate supplier contracts, control food stocks and adhere to the catering budget.
• Maintain a 5‑star level of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness.
• Address special dietary requirements, ensuring clear allergen labelling.
• Support school events with creative catering solutions and provide breakfast for all classes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar catering role, preferably within an educational setting.
• Strong leadership and staff‑management abilities.
• Good knowledge of health and safety, food safety regulations and allergen management.
• Ability to design meal programmes that cater to diverse dietary needs.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Commitment to promoting healthy eating and high standards of food hygiene.
