School Cook Manager – Term time only

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Cook Manager to lead the kitchen team at a primary school in North London. The role is term‑time only, 27.5 hours per week, with no weekend or late‑night shifts, allowing you to focus on delivering fresh, nutritious meals for pupils during school days.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and serve balanced meals in line with school food standards and allergen guidelines.
• Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and stock control while staying within the allocated budget.
• Lead, motivate and develop a small team of kitchen staff, ensuring high morale and performance.
• Maintain rigorous food hygiene and safety procedures, conducting regular checks and audits.
• Collaborate with school staff and parents to address dietary requirements and feedback.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a supervisory kitchen role, preferably within an educational setting.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding children and upholding high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to work proactively in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (mandatory).
• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Catering (highly desirable).
• Knowledge of food safety, allergens and school food regulations.
• Budget and stock management competence.
