School Finance Officer (Term Time, 30 hrs/week)

About the role

This temporary 12‑month position supports the financial management of a welcoming school in Preston. Working approximately 30 hours per week during term time, you will report to the School Business Manager and help ensure accurate and compliant financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase orders, invoices and payments
• Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate financial records
• Support budget monitoring and financial reporting
• Manage income collection, banking procedures and supplier queries
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end financial processes
• Provide payroll administration support when required
• Ensure compliance with school financial regulations and procedures

Required profile

• Previous finance experience, ideally within a school or public sector setting
• Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• A recognised finance qualification such as AAT is desirable
