School First Aider – Secondary School (Hebburn)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate First Aider to join a busy secondary school in South Tyneside. The role is based in the school’s First Aid and Medical Room, providing immediate medical support to students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid treatment to students, staff and visitors.
• Assess injuries and illnesses and determine appropriate action.
• Maintain accurate medical and accident records.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external agencies when required.
• Manage stock levels of first aid supplies and ensure equipment is maintained.
• Support the school’s safeguarding and wellbeing procedures.
• Monitor unwell students until they can return to lessons or be collected.

Required profile

• Valid First Aid at Work, Emergency First Aid at Work, or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Previous experience in a first aid, healthcare, education or similar support role is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
• Excellent organisation and record‑keeping skills.
• Caring and empathetic approach when working with young people.
