School Librarian – Southeast London

About the role

We are looking for a friendly, organised and enthusiastic School Librarian to join a welcoming school in Southeast London. You will manage the daily operation of the library, support students and staff with resources, and promote a love of reading through engaging activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day‑to‑day running of the school library.
• Catalogue, organise and maintain books and learning resources.
• Support students in developing research and independent learning skills.
• Encourage reading for pleasure through library initiatives and events.
• Assist teachers in sourcing appropriate resources to support the curriculum.
• Maintain a welcoming, safe and organised library environment.
• Monitor book loans and returns using the school’s library management system.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a library, school or similar educational setting (desirable).
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Proactive and approachable attitude.
• Genuine passion for literacy and supporting young people.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (essential).

Required skills

• Good IT skills and ability to manage library systems.
