School Nurse (RGN) – Part‑Time, Term‑Time

About the role

The Portsmouth Grammar School is seeking two qualified Registered General Nurses (RGN) to join its Health & Wellbeing Centre on a part‑time, term‑time basis. The role involves delivering first aid, emergency care and day‑to‑day clinical support for pupils while maintaining a safe, compliant health environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first aid and emergency treatment to pupils with a caring, professional approach.
• Manage the daily operations of the clinical area, including stock control and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain accurate, confidential medical and nursing records.
• Communicate with parents, healthcare professionals and school staff regarding pupils' medical needs.
• Deliver training and clear information to staff on health and safety procedures.
• Support the safe management of sports injuries and maintain the significant medical concerns list.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
• Experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Ability to work autonomously and make competent clinical decisions.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in first aid and emergency care protocols.
• Knowledge of NHS Agency for Change Band 6+ standards.
• Familiarity with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
