School Sports Coach

About the role

The Education Network North is seeking enthusiastic Sports Coaches or recent graduates to support secondary schools across Durham. You will deliver daily sport sessions, supervise classes in the absence of the permanent teacher, and help students develop their physical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage sport lessons, introducing and closing each session.
• Take class registers and ensure student attendance.
• Maintain a positive, well‑managed learning environment.
• Encourage pupils to stay on task and complete assigned activities.
• Assist students with questions and provide appropriate guidance.
• Follow lesson outlines, collect work, and adhere to school policies.
• Report progress, behaviour and any concerns to the class teacher.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months experience working with 11‑18 year‑old students.
• Enthusiastic, passionate about education and sport.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
