Schools Finance Officer – 4 Vacancies

About the role

We are recruiting four Schools Finance Officers on a six‑month contract to support schools and academies across Birmingham. Working on a hybrid basis, you will provide expert financial advice, help manage budgets and ensure compliance with funding regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial support and advice to schools and academies for effective budget management.
• Conduct budget planning, financial monitoring visits and manage local payment and cheque‑book facilities.
• Produce accurate, timely financial reports for Governing Bodies and senior leadership teams.
• Attend and present at Governing Body and Finance Committee meetings.
• Support schools with financial systems and interpretation of financial data.
• Identify and implement process and system improvements.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across schools, academies and external organisations.
• Ensure service delivery aligns with Service Level Agreements and contracts.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented finance professional with proven experience in school financial management.
• Strong understanding of school funding, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Birmingham.
