About the role
This full‑time Science teaching position starts in September at an 11‑16 academy in Sheffield. The role is designed for an enthusiastic specialist who will deliver a knowledge‑rich curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, covering both combined and separate sciences.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons for KS3 and KS4, following the UK National Curriculum.
- Motivate pupils of diverse backgrounds, fostering analytical reasoning and investigative skills.
- Use data‑driven approaches to track progress and address misconceptions.
- Maintain a safe, orderly laboratory environment through positive behaviour management.
- Collaborate with a unified department to raise overall academic standards.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent UK teaching credential.
- Enhanced DBS check registered with the Update Service (or willingness to obtain immediately).
- Current knowledge of GCSE specifications (AQA / Edexcel) for Combined and Triple Science.
- Legal right to work full‑time in the United Kingdom.
Required skills
- Advanced subject literacy in biology, chemistry and physics.
- Proactive behaviour management using positive reinforcement.
- Adaptive teaching techniques to support high‑attainers, SEND and EAL learners.
- Progress tracking and data analysis to identify and remediate scientific misconceptions.
- Formative feedback skills, including live marking and targeted questioning.
