Science Technician – Wandsworth

About the role

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking a Science Technician to support science teaching in a secondary school in Wandsworth. The role starts in September 2026 and involves preparing practical materials, maintaining the labs and ensuring a safe learning environment for pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for biology, chemistry and physics lessons.
• Assist teachers during practical sessions and demonstrate safe use of laboratory equipment.
• Develop and trial new practical activities to enhance the curriculum.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laboratories, prep rooms and storage areas.
• Manage stock of chemicals, consumables and equipment, placing orders in consultation with the Head of Science.
• Carry out routine calibration, testing and maintenance of laboratory equipment.

Required profile

• Experience working in a laboratory environment (school, industrial or academic).
• Good scientific knowledge in at least one discipline (biology, chemistry or physics).
• Strong organisational ability and the capacity to work independently.
• Understanding of laboratory safety and safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Desirable: previous school science technician experience, relevant science qualifications (A‑levels, BTEC or degree) and familiarity with CLEAPSS guidance.
