About the role

Join an innovative, internationally operating technology business developing cutting‑edge detection systems for security‑critical environments. As a Scientist you will own a broad range of scientific activities that drive the evolution of a market‑leading detection product.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experimental investigations, critically evaluate results and translate findings into practical product improvements.
• Build, adapt and customise laboratory equipment, including developing algorithms that respond to newly identified threats.
• Engage with internal teams, customers and end‑users, presenting technical findings clearly to diverse audiences.
• Provide troubleshooting, modification and deeper understanding of scientific instruments beyond routine operation.
• Occasionally support off‑site trials and field testing.

Required profile

• PhD in chemistry, physics or a closely related discipline (preferred) or a Master’s degree with commercial laboratory experience.
• Hands‑on experience with analytical instrumentation at a level beyond routine operation, including modification or design.
• Strong data analysis and numerical skills with the ability to interpret complex experimental results.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities, capable of leading technical discussions.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload with high autonomy.

Required skills

• Ion mobility spectrometry (ideal) and other spectrometry techniques.
• Mass spectrometry, spectroscopy and chromatography.
• Instrument modification, repair and customisation.
• Algorithm development for threat detection.
• Advanced data analysis and numerical modelling.
