Second Chef – Care Home (Bristol)

About the role

Join Barchester Healthcare as a Second Chef and help deliver high‑quality, nutritious meals for residents in a supportive care‑home environment. You will work alongside the Head Chef to create seasonal, balanced menus while enjoying a better work‑life balance than typical hotel or restaurant roles.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head Chef in menu development and daily production.
• Prepare fresh, seasonal dishes to hotel‑standard quality.
• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
• Maintain stock control, conduct regular audits and work within budget.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP and other food safety standards.

Required profile

• Warm, personable approach with a genuine interest in resident wellbeing.
• City & Guilds, NVQ, SVQ or equivalent culinary qualification.
• Good understanding of nutrition and fresh seasonal food.
• Confidence engaging with residents to tailor menus.
