Secondary Cover Supervisor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking confident and professional Secondary Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in the Fareham area. The role offers the chance to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students and teachers on a day‑to‑day or longer‑term basis.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise KS3 and KS4 classes in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials and instructions, ensuring students stay engaged.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Support students with lesson activities where appropriate.
• Cover a range of subjects across the secondary curriculum.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment and follow safeguarding policies.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people.
• Confidence leading groups of students independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Calm, professional and adaptable approach.
• Excellent classroom management abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
