Secondary Cover Teacher

About the role

Reed Education is seeking qualified secondary teachers to provide cover across schools in Sussex for the 2023‑2024 academic year. The role can be day‑to‑day or long‑term, offering a variety of placements in different secondary settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned lessons across a range of subjects, adapting quickly to each school's curriculum.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
• Communicate regularly with class teachers and senior leadership teams to ensure continuity of learning.
• Support schools on short notice, covering both short‑term absences and longer assignments.

Required profile

• Qualified teaching status (or equivalent) and a strong knowledge of secondary subjects.
• Current DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available).
• Flexibility to work in multiple schools and an open‑minded approach to daily school life.

Required skills

• Excellent classroom management and behaviour‑handling techniques.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with staff and leadership.
• Ability to adapt lesson plans quickly to different school contexts.
