Secondary Design & Technology Technician

About the role

Reed Education, in partnership with Lancashire County Council, is seeking a motivated Design & Technology (DT) Technician to support secondary school lessons in the Preston area. The role involves preparing equipment, assisting staff and students, and ensuring a safe, well‑maintained learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Preparing, setting up and checking Design & Technology equipment for lessons.
• Storing and organising equipment after use and maintaining accurate stock records.
• Supporting teaching staff and students during practical sessions.
• Repairing, maintaining and modifying equipment to ensure safety and functionality.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar Design & Technology support role.
• Recent experience working in a school or comparable educational setting.
• Hard‑working, flexible and able to take initiative.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and commitment to safeguarding.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children and adults.
• Available for part‑time or full‑time work and able to travel locally.
