Secondary English Teacher – SEMH & Complex Needs

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Secondary English Teacher to work with students who have social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and complex learning profiles. The role is based in Bagshot, Surrey and starts in September. You will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping pupils rebuild confidence and achieve qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to a wide range of abilities and needs.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to create a safe learning environment.
• Support pupils in regulating behaviour and emotional responses during lessons.
• Collaborate with experienced colleagues to develop inclusive teaching strategies.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as required.

• Patience, consistency and creativity in delivering lessons.
• Ability to remain calm during challenging moments and view behaviour as communication.
• Willingness to work in a dynamic, relationship‑focused school culture.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the English curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Experience adapting teaching materials for diverse learning needs.
• Effective classroom management techniques.

What we offer

• Full‑time, permanent contract with a salary of £30,000 – £45,000 per annum.
