Secondary School Teaching Assistant (Full‑Time, Temporary)

About the role

This full‑time, temporary position is with an Outstanding Ofsted‑rated secondary school in South Harrow. It is ideal for recent graduates who want to support teenagers, particularly those with SEND, and gain classroom experience across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group academic support for KS3 and KS4 students.
• Assist pupils with SEND (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, etc.) following EHCPs and individual learning plans.
• Support teachers with lesson preparation, resource adaptation, and classroom activities.
• Deliver targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy and subject‑specific areas.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and independent learning.
• Help students during assessments and examinations as required.
• Collaborate with SENCOs, pastoral teams and families to ensure holistic support.

Required profile

• Graduate with a passion for education and youth development.
• Experience working with secondary‑aged students, especially those with SEND.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN professionals and families.
