Secondary Science Teacher (Full‑Time) – Merton

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Secondary Science Teacher to join an outstanding co‑educational secondary school in Merton. The role starts at the beginning of September 2026 and offers a supportive, inclusive environment where teachers are valued and empowered to deliver high‑quality science education.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
• Teach Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics in line with the national curriculum and GCSE specifications.
• Supervise practical investigations with the assistance of a dedicated lab technician.
• Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Manage behaviour according to school policies.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learner needs.
• Contribute to STEM clubs and enrichment activities.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching at secondary level, or recent graduate (ECT) with strong subject knowledge.
• Commitment to inclusion, academic excellence and pupil development.
• Willingness to engage in mentoring, induction and professional development.

Required skills

• Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics.
• Proficiency in laboratory safety and practical investigation techniques.
