Secondary SEND Teacher – Flexible Supply Positions

About the role

Academics is looking for a passionate Secondary SEND Teacher to provide daily, short‑term or long‑term cover across schools in The Wirral. This flexible supply role allows you to work in a variety of specialised and mainstream SEND settings while maintaining a healthy work‑life balance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to students with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, MLD and other complex needs.
• Step into different SEND provisions and mainstream departments, providing seamless cover.
• Scaffold learning to ensure every pupil can access the curriculum and make progress.
• Maintain a calm, structured classroom using positive behaviour strategies and de‑escalation techniques.

Required profile

• UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/ECT) or equivalent, with a specialist focus on SEND.
• Proven experience as a Secondary SEND Teacher or supporting students with complex needs.
• Outstanding differentiation ability, patience, empathy and the capacity to build quick rapport with vulnerable young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Based in or able to commute to schools throughout The Wirral.
